Vitamin B-12 Injection Therapy

Vitamin B-12

Vitamin B-12 is an essential vitamin that plays a role in various critical functions such as:

  • DNA synthesis
  • Energy production
  • Nerve cell health
  • Red blood cell function
  • Neurological function

The list goes on. But to help put it in relative terms, Vitamin B-12 and necessary shots of it help reduce the risk of medical complications like heart disease, infertility, vision loss, peripheral neuropathy and neurological disorders often associated with aging. The most applicable condition for B-12 shot therapy is when these typical signs of aging start to appear in younger people. It’s not uncommon for this to be a sign of a serious B-12 deficiency.

Common signs of B-12 deficiency (pernicious anemia) to look out for:

  • Decreased cognitive function
  • Fatigue/Lethargy
  • Constipation
  • Feeling faint
  • Depression & atypical irritability
  • Balance issues
  • Sore, swollen, and discolored tongue.

Where B-12 comes from.

The standard way people consume B-12 is through food – primarily animal products like fish, eggs, meat, and dairy. If you have any digestive conditions or dietary restrictions that could prohibit healthy consumption of B-12, shot therapy may be a great alternative.

Vegetarians & Vegans

People who do not consume B-12 rich animal products are naturally at a higher risk of developing a B-12 deficiency. Research (like this study published by the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition) has indicated that vegans and vegetarians typically have low levels of vitamin B-12. Of the 232 vegan participants, more than half were found to be deficient. If you are a vegetarian or vegan and have been experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, consult your doctor about a potential B-12 deficiency. B-12 injection therapy may be the most preferable alternative since it doesn’t require you to consume any animal products.

Gastrointestinal Issues

What you consume might not matter if a gastrointestinal issue is inhibiting the absorption of vitamin B-12. If you have a gastrointestinal disorder (such as Crohn’s disease) or have undergone gastrointestinal surgery, you may have a hindered ability to effectively absorb essential vitamins. If this is the case, vitamin B-12 shots will likely be more effective than oral supplements because injections bypass any digestive restrictions. Ask your doctor if vitamin B-12 shots could be a valid alternative for you.

Other risk factors for an increased chance of developing a B-12 deficiency.

If you're not a vegan or vegetarian and don't have a prominent gastrointestinal issue, but still experience many of these symptoms, you should consider that these factors can also increase the risk of developing a vitamin B-12 deficiency:

  • Alcohol abuse
  • Smoking
  • Certain prescription medications (like antacids & some type 2 diabetes drugs)
  • Endocrine-related autoimmune disorders (like diabetes or thyroid)
  • Aging

Again, ask your doctor if you think any of these factors have led you to develop a Vitamin B-12 deficiency. If so, B-12 shot therapy could be the best solution.

Vitamin B-12 Boosts

If you don’t struggle with a B-12 deficiency, injection therapy can still be beneficial for a wide variety of reasons. Vitamin B-12 helps provide noticeable energy boosts because it helps metabolize your food into glucose. It’s an effective treatment for general fatigue, low energy, and low metabolisms. This means it’s a huge help for weight loss, improving muscle development, and strengthening immune systems.

Additional benefits of Vitamin B-12 boosts include:

  • Healthier skin
  • Joint pain relief
  • Improved concentration
  • Improved memory
  • Improved recovery

Since I moved to Arizona, I have suffered from nightly allergic asthma attacks from February-June unless I took a daily anti-histamine. I tried multiple natural treatments in the past, such as herbs, acupuncture and enzymatic therapy, without any beneficial results. The regular anti-histamine use left me feeling groggy and fatigued. I nebulized an amniotic allograft from BioLabs in January 2019 and I have not had a single allergic asthma attack during this allergy season. This has been a life-changing treatment for me. There were numerous occasions where I thought I would have to leave Arizona because I couldn’t enjoy being outside for several months of the year. This year I was able to hike to my heart’s content, without any fear of worsening my allergic symptoms. This treatment has incredible potential for improving respiratory health, and I would encourage those suffering from respiratory conditions (other than cancer) to discuss it with their physician.
